Joseph W. Catharine Born: June 3rd, 1857 at sea, going from New York to Liverpool aboard the clipper ship, Carrier Dove. His father it turns out happened to be the captain of the Carrier Dove at the time.
He became the head of the board of Education in Philadelphia

On the storied trip from Liverpool to Melbourne, Charles Bregazzi writes:

"A rough and squally morn. During the night a woman was delivered of a 7 months child. It lived about 1 hour. 7 weeks at sea"
And again:
Distance 192, Lat 45.22 Long 116.45 Saturday, October 24, 1857
"In the evening a Welsh woman was delivered of a male child. Both are doing well."
To bad he didn't record the names.
